well i had the compaq for along time but the hard drive crashed and it had a lot of crap in it so it was just used for the parts and now i was just tossing around the idea of puting it back together i can get the parts cheep so what do u think

If you can get parts for cheap, then go for it. If nothing else, the learning experience is always helpful, and I for one enjoy this kind of stuff. Let me know if you get anything working out of it! :)
