Screen Goes Black after log on - Windows 7 Ultimate

Today on my laptop which has win7 i restarted to install updates and then wehen it rebooted i log in and the screen goes black but i can still get to task manager by going ctrl alt del.
I have tried restarting, repairing, system restore. I can run in safe mode. I have also tried running explorer.exe and this does nothing.
I dont know what do to! Im stumped and i need my laptop for school assignments!
Please help me!

I'm thinking you need a reinstall. Do you have a Windows 7 Disk to install Windows 7?
