If this is wrong area, feel free to move it. Anybody ever update the bios on an ASUS mobo? It won't let me. When windows built-in unzipper starts, I have to enter a password. When I right-click the file and use "extract all", it says it can not decompress. Have also used other unzip programs, none work. Any ideas?

Is there a specific reason that you are trying to update the bios?

We do not recommend doing that unless the update addresses a particular problem and fixes it.

Doing a bios update incorrectly can and will render the board a paperweight.
Then the repair to the board will be very expensive.

In my opinion....not necessary unless it fixes a specific problem

I agree with 123Runner
There is no need to flash a bios unless it will add features to your system you really need.
Flashing a bios if done wrong can render your motherboard dead and your system useless.

there are 2 ways to flash the bios on asus mobo's...thru the floppy drive and asus's live update in windows if the board supports it...what is the model #...
and what exactly are you trying to do...
the bios is something that you don't need to update unless your having a specific problem that the updated bios fixes..
the bios falls in the category of ...if its not broke, don't fix it
