computer won't restart from standby

I have a pc running XP home sp3 and when it goes to low power or standby, it won't wake back up. I can't even do a power on with the button. What should I look at first?

Since you mention "low power", I assume you're referring to a laptop, right?

How exactly do you resuscitate it after an episode of this behavior?
