I have a case that I am putting a MSI motherboard in. The case is from an HP1170n Media center. I rewired the cable so that they can plug into the motherboard keeping all the connections correct (+, -, etc). My question is on mounting the board in the case. It has built in standoffs. When I mount it do I need to put washers between the underside of the board and the case? I know I don't put them on top of the board per MSI.

Thats a hard call. Normally you do not. The standoffs should line up with the holes in the board. It would be very difficult to get the washers to stay on the standoffs while putting the board on.

if the standoffs are made of metal then you should consider putting washers between the board and the case...typically it's not required (per se)...but any protection against shorting is a good idea
