Hello,

Just a few days ago, this azesearch toolbars and favourites appears after i went to some site that requires activex something...

So i just click it and then all this started. I search in google for the removal procedure and most of it link it here. I've read the topics about hijackthis here

and decided to give it a try. Hope that somebody here would be willing to help me in this situation. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Before i start the scanning of hijack this, i already try using spybot s&d, ad-aware se personal, search the registry for azesearch and ztool and delete them. But they keep on coming. Before scanning, i already reboot my system as instructed. Below is the log created by hijack this. I'm gonna take years to understand all this.

Welcome to the GTG Forums, I will be reviewing your HJT log.
Please create a folder on your C:\ drive and rename it something you will remember such as C:\HJT, then move hijackthis.exe to that folder and run it from that location from now on.

Download CleanUp
Install the program, dont run it yet, we will later.

Download CWShredder
And save it to your desktop.
Close all open browser windows and any other open windows.

Install CWShredder, then:

Open CWS and click Check for Updates
Then click "FIX"

Please download hoster from the link below and unzip it to your desktop, dont run it yet.

Scan with HJT and place a checkmark next to the following items, dont fix anything just yet.

Close all browsers and open windows except HJT then click the Fix Checked button.

Enable show hidden files and folders:

* Click Start.
* Open My Computer.
* Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
* Select the View Tab.
* Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
* Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
* Click Yes to confirm.
* Click OK.

Using Windows Explorer find and remove the following folders/files if present:

azentretien.dll <-- File
C:\WINDOWS\system32\azesearch3.ocx <-- File
C:\WINDOWS\system32\iasadm.dll <-- File

Go to your desktop and Open Hoster.exe

• Then click on "Restore Original Hosts"
• Close the program when complete.

Start CleanUp
When CleanUp starts go to the Options button (right side of CleanUp screen)
Uncheck cookies
This is optional, if you leave the box checked it will remove all of your cookies, at this point removing cookies is a good idea.
Click OK
Then click on the CleanUp button. This will take a short while, let it do its thing.
When asked to reboot system select No
Close CleanUp

Please run these free online Virus Scans. You will have to select the auto-fix option prior to scanning, it should be a selection box on the screen.
Panda ActiveScan
TrendMicro HouseCall

Please post the logs From Panda virus scan and a new HJT log by using Add Reply
We will need them to remove any previous infections that have left files on your system

Hello,

First thanks for replying my post.

i already install the cleanUp but during the scanning the screen freezed and need to shut down the program. i tried it several times, but the result is the same.

The cwshredder results indicates none infected.

Already done the hoster program and restored the original host.

Already done what u ask me to do with hijackthis and scanned back after i did all the above and below is my log. The panda virus scan does not provide any log. I don't really know how to get it but i think my it does not detect anything.

However you are running a P2P client C:\Program Files\Azureus, I won't pass judgement on this, but that is your choice to run.

Other than that.....
Here are some tips, to reduce the potential for spyware infection in the future, I strongly recommend installing the following applications:

Detect and Remove Programs:

• How to use Ad-Aware to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Ad-Aware.
• How to use Spybot to remove Spyware <= If you suspect that you have spyware installed on your computer, here are instructions on how to download, install and then use Spybot. Similar to Ad-Aware, I strongly recommend both to catch most spyware.

Prevention Programs:

• Spywareblaster <= SpywareBlaster will prevent spyware from being installed.
• Spywareguard <= SpywareGuard offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
• IE/Spyad <= IE/Spyad places over 4000 websites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads (Cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
• MVPS Hosts file <= The MVPS Hosts file replaces your current HOSTS file with one containing well know ad sites etc. Basically, this prevents your coputer from connecting to those sites by redirecting them to 127.0.0.1 which is your local computer
• Google Toolbar <= Get the free google toolbar to help stop pop up windows.

Other necessary Programs:

• AntiVirus Program<= An AntiVirus program is a must! Whether it is a free version like AVG or Anti-Vir, or a shareware version like Norton or Kapersky, this is a must have.
• Firewall<= A firewall is definatley a must have. Two good free versions are Sygate and ZoneLabs.
• More Secure Browser<= Internet Explorer is not the most secure and best browser. There are safer and better alternatives available. I recommend Firefox, however Opera is OK as well.

Be sure to also keep up with Windows and IE updates.
