secure computer and network?

so I have been playing around with cain and abel using the sniffer tool. Now I have a LAN connection so it is wired and when I activate the sniffer to locate all the devices on my subnet it comes up with a whole bunch of devices. Now is it possible that other computers are on the other subnet? And also how do I find out what my mac address is?
