A friend of mine keeps getting this pop up on his computer running XP home:

Found New Hardware
Generic volume shadow copy

When they try to install it they get the following error:

There was a problem installing this hardware:
Volume Snapshot
An error occurred during the installation of the device

Only changes done recently were adding Carbonite and an external card reader which is not connected when they get the pop up.

I have searched the internet without any luck.
