just a thought but i think your mobo only supports an 800fsb cpu,

the Intel® Core™2 Duo Desktop Processor E7600 is 1066fsb, see here

Difference isn't big only Q8400 has L2 4MB cache while Q9400 has L2 6MB difference is very small which make Q9400 faster for 4-6% in some things.Here http://processorfind...spx?sSpec=SLGT6 & http://processorfind...spx?sSpec=SLB6B

Yes that's true if your motherboard has fsb 800 both E7600 and Q8400 will work at lower speed that means it would be a problem not having normal speed.

According to this sandra thing...I think this is FSB (front side bus speed) it is 4x200mhz (800 mhz)
