Just a quick question guys, why is it being recommended to add the second hard drive to the CD-ROM IDE channel?
The Hard Drive IDE cable should also have two IDE connectors, meaning one spare, so I strongly recommend that one for the connection. Then the current drive would be Master (most likely is already), and the new one can become Slave.
Mary Poppins, is the case Ron posted in #35 what you have? Please take a photo of the inside of your case and upload it so I can tell you where this should go.

No Troy I used that picture as a reference for Mary Poppins to see the inside of the case where HD bays are.Mary Poppins, is the case Ron posted in #35 what you have?
The reason for the way it is being done is ease for Mary Poppins.
I agree the way you are saying is the way to ideally do it and I would be willing to do that if Mary Poppins would like to.

IMHO, it would probably be just as prudent a move to buy an external hard disk that just plugs and plays into a USB port. That way you can transfer your media such as photos and mp3's and stuff to it, and keep everything else on the computer itself. It'd certainly be the most hassle-free option.

True, it would be the most hassle-free, but then you'd be stuck with USB transfer speeds instead of the faster internal transfer speeds. Also if she wanted the new drive to be the boot drive (by cloning) then there's a problem. Lastly, this thread is quite some months old...
