The malware folks are stumped. Suggesting a reformat of the C drive. Sent me over here, I think. "We could send you over to the techs if you want to try fix some of your issues."

We ran SafeBookKeyRepair so I could start XP in safe mode (See LOG below). Trying to open in safe mode was giving me a blue screen (and it still is). We were trying to open in safe mode so we could run AVP Tool by Kaspersky. We were trying to run that because after pretty much cleaning Antivirus System Pro out of the system, IE and Firefox still won't run, even though the Comcast wireless network is working fine. Read what happened at:

http://www.geekstogo...on-t260232.html

Blue screen says: "A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer." and goes on at length, suggesting I get new drivers and start in safe mode. The following codes were at the bottom of the screen:
STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x80537009, 0xF789E508, 0xF789E204)

But when I start Windows in regular mode, everything except Web browsers seems to work.

FYI: Throughout this, I was shuttling programs downloaded to a thumbdrive on my vista system to my wife's xp system upstairs. Key files are saved to the thumbdrive. I have CDs for Windows, Office, Drivers and Utilities.

I would prefer not to reformat -- at least until I could get a couple of word files off the c drive. So, if there is a way i could burn some code to a cd that would start windows -- or at least let me get to files on the desktop -- so i could do that I would appreciate it.

Nevermind. It's being dealt with elsewhere.
