Hi, I'm a newbie and know not a lot about computers so please bare with me.
I've had this problem for a long-ish while but haven't really bothered to do anything about it until now. When I start up the computer, only my documents appears. Through this, I am pretty much able to access everything I need but its really annoying that nothing else happens. The desktop background is present but there are no desktop icons or any of the stuff that appears normally. I have looked on forums to try and fix the problem but it hasn't worked.

I've done this:
Run> Regedit > Navigate To > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\
Microsoft\ Windows NT\ CurrentVersion\ Winlogon
In RHS panel, change value of "Userinit" to :
C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe

And also something about deleting multiple explorer.exe - hopefully that means something to you guys cos i can't remember how i got into it.

please HELP!! thanks in advance :)
