Hi Guys!

I'm Tom, and I'm new to the forum. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

My antivirus (Avira AntiVir Free) got disabled somehow and when I went back to turn it on I deleted the nvstor32.sys driver in the c://Windows/system32/drivers/ folder. Now when I start up I get the error message indicating that nvstor32.sys is "missing or corrupted." In the process I ran a complete virus scan and found like five different infections, but I lost the virus info when I had to reboot yesterday's restore point.

I WAS able to restore yesterday's restore point, and as long as I don't turn on the antivirus my computer runs just fine. But, obviously, I need to remove this virus.

I tried deleting the file in question and then reinstalling the Nvidia Sata driver from Windows Update. This also resulted in the "missing or corrupted" startup message. So I had to restore an earlier restore point.

I'm running a Compaq/HP SR5510F
Athlon 64 X2 (B) 5000+ 2.6 GHz
Nvidia GeForce 9400GT
Motherboard Name: MCP61PM-HM / Iris8-GL6
500 & 300 GB HDs

How do I get the virus info without spreading the viruses further? What more info do I need to provide?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Tom
