Big Problem Reinstalling Windows 98SE

After trying to reinstall Windos SE I'm having a problem. When I get to the A:\ DOS Prompt I type F:\Setup....

The read light indicator on my CD-Rom drive lights up and the disk begins to read... It then goes to a new DOS screen where it displays:

Please wait while Setup initializes
Scanning System Registry
Windows setup requires 7340032 Bytes available on your


And that's it, freezes up. Any suggestions?

How big is your harddrive? Are you just trying to re-install WIN 98 or from a reformat then install process?

Win 98 requires a disk space of more or less 8 GB for installation.

I am tring to re-install windows, followed the instructions in

and I have well over 8 gigs free on my hard drive.

this is a windows 98 cd? Where did you get the boot floppy?
