Does anyone know how to create a link to a piece of text further down teh page using yahoo sitebuilder?

If I go to create a link it only gives me the option to link to a file on my computer, another website or an email address.


I want to have a list of options at the top like a menu then the user should be able to click an option to take them to the relevant section on the page.

Any ideas?

right before the section you want to link to, insert a custom html content box formed like a rectangle and put in:

<a name="put_name_here" />

then link to it by making the text link point to: "#put_name_here".

Thankyou so much for the reply but I can't get it to work

It just returns me to the home page when I try the link

I tried doing it by copying and pasting exactly what you put above

scroll through your full html code with an external editor and find where that code line appears and make sure it is right before the section you need. if Y! SiteBuilder inserts it at the top of the page then i can't help...

i don't know much about webdesign, but i did a little research on this one for some reason....seems like the general consensus on the internet is that yahoo site builder pretty much sucks. it doesn't actually let you access the full HTML of the site so it's difficult to actually add stuff that it doesn't support (like anchor links). and if you edit the site OUTSIDE of yahoo site builder it apparently adds a nag tag at the top of every page saying that you edited it outside of yahoo site builder

well thanks guys I guess I will try to get around it. I love yahoo sitebuilder because I am not very technical but I would not recommend it to anyone who wants to do something more professional.

I am usually happy with playing around with text boxes and photos for what I need on my site so its good for that.

This is honestly the first thing I have wanted to do but couldnt.

I have solved this one for us.. the answer the first guy gave was right EXCEPT try it without the Quotes just #your_name_here it works. just things work differently on yahoo they take alot of the code work out for you unfortunately mostly to confuse most.. then try linking it with the "other" tab funtion in the linking tab. should work.
