I just put a new computer together and I'm having some trouble installing windows 7 on it.

My mother board only has SATA ports on it and my DVD drive uses IDE so I bought a converter.

The DVD drive works fine this way when I put my hard drive that has windows xp on it in the same computer.

But, when I have my new blank hard drive in and I tell it to boot from CD-ROM it finds no bootable devices.

I've tried setting the DVD drive to master slave and cable select.

Any info on a way to fix this would be much appreciated.

P.S. sadly I have no other DVD drives at this time that I could try.
