I have a similar problem that has been addressed several times here and on other sites as well. I was infected with a possible trojan which changed my desktop background and kept a popup coming up which said to click to download a cure. I know enough not to do this. But I did click on the "x" to close the box and this probably still infected my computer. I have my original Gateway disk. When I try to repair windows it gives me a message that by recovering windows I will lose all my applications but not the data. Does anyone know if this is correct?
