Please help. My PC is being swamped with popups. Symantec antivirus has detected the trojan.alwayup virus and quarantines it. I can empty the quarantine and be okay, when I reboot the virus is detected again and popups start all over.

I have run Spybot and Ad-aware numerous times and they remove varius items, but they keep reappearing.

Here is my hijackthis log

I am sorry but I have good reason to believe you did not follow the instructions here:
http://www.geekstogo..._Log-t2852.html

It will not solve all your problems, but it will make it much easier for me to help you.
Post a new HijackThis log when you are done

Before we start could you surf to the Uploads forum here:
http://www.thespykil...forum/index.php
Follow the instructions there to upload:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\msxct.exe
We have reason to believe it is a new "malware"

Download: DelDomains.inf
Should the link above display the text instead of downloading the file, then copy & paste the text into notepad and save the file as DellDomains.inf
To use: right-click and select: Install (no need to restart)
Note: This will remove all entries in the "Trusted Zone" and "Ranges" also.

Check the following items in HijackThis.
Close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix checked:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

24 hours and still no problems. There are a few popups still, but I think they are probably just normal web usage popups.

Thanks again and I consider the problem fixed.

Install SP2 and you will find that you have a more then reasonable popupblocker.

They followed the good example of Firefox and Opera there. :tazz:
