Hi Happyrock

thanks for your response.
So i went to start up and i did not have the option to uncheck Outlook & Outlook Express as they were not there - I was only able to uncheck MS Office. however on re-boot of the laptop the Outlook Express 6 appeared again also when i turn my laptop on it is very slow starting to get to the actual Desktop page

I await your advices

first we will deal with the outlook thing ...then we will work on the slow loading issue...
click on start...control panel...add/remove programs...after its loaded ..
on the left hand side click on add/remove windows components...uncheck outlook express...click next...when its done click on finish...reboot

Did the slowness start recently?

Please, post some computer info:
- processor type, amount of RAM (hold Windows logo key, hit Pause/Break key)
- hard drive size/free space (open "My Computer", right click on hard drive letter, click "Properties")
- security programs in use (antivirus, firewall)

This: HDD: 60GB
and these:
USED SPACE: 21.3GB
FREE SPACE: 6.54GB

don't add up.
How come?

You surely could use another 512MB of RAM.

Download Autoruns for Windows: http://technet.micro...s/bb963902.aspx
No installation required.
Simply unzip Autoruns.zip file, and double click on autoruns.exe file to run the program.
Go File>Save, and save it as AutoRuns.txt file to know location.
You must select Text from drop-down menu as a file type:

Attach the file to your next reply.

You never did comment on this:

This: HDD: 60GB
and these:
USED SPACE: 21.3GB
FREE SPACE: 6.54GB
don't add up.
How come?

You have some unneeded startups, so let's disable some and see how it goes.

First of all...
Unless you willingly installed Kontiki Player....
Go Start>Control Panel>Add\Remove ("Programs and Features" in Vista), and uninstall Sky Anytime (if present).
Download, and run KClean.exe: http://static.sky.co...lean/KClean.exe to remove Kontiki from your computer.
NOTE: Kontiki is a known resource hog.

Then, re-run Autoruns, click on "Logon" tab and UN-check following items:

+ "AppleSyncNotifier"
+ "ATIModeChange"
+ "ATIPTA"
+ "iTunesHelper"
+ "SunJavaUpdateSched"
+ "VAIO Update 2"
+ "Adobe Gamma Loader.lnk"
+ "BitTorrent DNA"
+ "MSMSGS"

Restart computer.

Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)
Double click on TFC.exe to run the program.
Click on Start button to begin cleaning process.
TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer.
