lost nokia e71 calender function?

i charged my nokia e71 the other day, since then i've not been able to access my calender, which had a lot of important info in, (no, hadn't backed it up, whoops). the icon for it is still there, but it doesn't do anything when i click on it. when checking the memory it showed there's something still in there, only i can't get to it, anyone know how i can rectify this or at least get at the info?
