any1 got 1?
how do u get the 5.1 surround sound working through the optical spdif ????

just built a new pc today, installed windows 7 etc, everything went fine and dandy, until i hooked up my 5.1 system and tried to get 5.1 whilst watching a movie!! i can only get 2.1!!
in the soundmax vol utility there is nothing to change to 5.1, under setup theres just a room with a tv and the 2 front speakers witch i can click to test sound!
in control panel/sound/sound ive got the spdif connection set to default, but the configure button on the bottom left is greyed out and im assuming i need to be in there to change output to 5.1 but i cant get in there to change out????

running windows 7 32bit
installed l8est bios and sound driver from asus site today
its driving me NUTS
thx in advance and hi all :)

On one system I was working on, I actually had to configure the system for 7.1, then disable the rear pair and have the rear (surround) channel play through the "side" speakers.

If you want more specifics, you would have to provide full details of hardware audio hardware (or motherboard).

I afraid if you have all the software loaded and the devices enabled in the BIOS then I don't have a solution for you. Perhaps someone more familiar with this ASUS board will come by and offer some help. Sorry. If me, I might try a non-optical connection just to see if it works that way.
