Ok here is the situation.

I have had my computer for about 3 years and its always been a POS! i bought it from best buy and have had the hard drive replaced by them 3 times!!! when it came time for them to replace my computer (lemon law) they conveniantly lost all my records. ;)

Anyways my computer turns on by itself ( i used to think it was haunted!!) usually within 30 minutes after i shut it down. ;) I just reformatted the hard drive and i am still having problems. I have been using registry mechanic and it comes up with errors every day! How do i find out what is wrong and from there how can i fix it? :)

I am not much a computer savvy person but with some instructions i will do my best ! your help and advice is appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!! :tazz:

Hi girlwitav6accord

First thing I would check is in the Control Panel, and check you power settings. If your cp is connected to High Speed the network card might be set to "Bring this computer out of standby or turn back on" If you ISP is running a search or broadcasting, computers are always talking, it might be enough of a signal to turn yours on again. Can I guess that this happens randomly?

Have you added any new hardware or software or windows update
before this started to happen?
Also Try Start>control panel>system.advanced tab>startup and recovery.>settings untick automatic restart.

Looks like you may have a "Wake on LAN" situation. Just turn it off...did someone already mention this?

.....hmmm wonder what the guy above me said. :tazz:

It could be your power supply,

Take it in to Best Buy. Or buy a new power supply. If you have any other computers, try installing the hard drive in that computer.
