Copying and pasting into Works Word Processor

My computer was supplied with WORKS but I find that if I attempt to paste anything into a Works document I am told that the selection is too big and so it cannot be done. On the computer I had before it was no problem. Does something need to be done to allow pasting to be acceptable? Even one word cannot be pasted at the moment.
