My flatmate has a Dell Inspriron and has the BSOD everytime he boots up. How do I get everything he has on the laptop on a disk and then erase the info on the laptop to re-install XP?

Apparently a icon popped up and ask him to download something and then restart his machine. When he restarted he got the BSOD.

*** STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xF85F9AD9, 0xF898B7A4, 0xF898B4A4) BUT the numbers and letters are different then these in the example Ive used above. But the Stop error message is the same.

Any help will be much appreciated

Hi Iceangelphoenix :)

Have you tried last known good configuration?
Have tried going in to safe mode?
Once in safe mode....try a system restore to a previous time.

During startup start tapping F8 till you are given the options listed above.

Nothing works except manually shutting it down. Safe mode or anything else does not work at all. it goes back to the BSOD
