Hello,
My name is Pat. Last week I was removing Verizon DSL software because I have comcast now.
I have an eMachine and use XP with Avira AntiVir Personal security software.
I was removing the Verizon security suite software and then I restarted my computer.
On the reboot a Dialogue box appeared and run for a couple minutes. The lines were saying "delete..//verizon/.."
After the computer finally loaded my desktop background picture was removed. And then all my folders were still in place and sub folders.
But all the files were removed from the folders, word, xls, pdfs, etc.
I use outlook express and all my contacts were removed.
The internet explorer icon did not have a link to the internet anymore.
there was nothing in the recycle bin. I tried a windows system restore from microsoft "System Tools"

Please help
Thank you
Pat
