Hi Geek Guys,
My problem, when I click on Internet Explorer Google will come up for a second then close. When it comes up it reads. www.google.com/ig?hl=en. It closes so fast I had to open it several times to read the /ig?hl=en. After several tries an application error come up. error signature AppName;iexplore.exe AppVer;7.0.6000.16981 ModName;msvcrt.dll ModVer;7.02600.2180 Offset;00036fa3.
It is connected to the Internet, will download email, weather bug etc. no problem.
This is my sons computer, he has AVG & Spy bot, I have run both, "clean". The plan is to clean it with the Geeks formal as soon as I get it on the net.
Thank you,
Fran Hall

Close IE.
Go Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools, and click on Internet Explorer (no add-ons). Same thing?

Will Firefox work with no problem?

Yes, use another working computer to download Firefox installation file and move it to the computer in question using USB flash drive.

Hi Brino,
Downloaded firefox, went on line, cleaned computer, no infections found, The computer was running great, last step was to update windows then check IE. As I said, computer was running great. updated windows, reboot, and it would only reboot in safe mode. I restored computer to time before I up dated windows. "computer is running fine!!!!" Still no IE, Thinking back,I think IE worked before windows updated the last time. So I went back and restored it to Jan.1, didn't help, still no IE.I restored it back to yesterday. Bottom line, computer running fine but no IE. Could it be that updating windows messed up IE? I'm sorry I don't have a better understanding of how computers work.
Thank You
Fran

Try to uninstall IE7. It'll revert to IE6. Then reinstall IE7.

I'm glad, it worked :)
Definitely run updates. If there is IE8 update, skip it for now and see for a while how your current IE7 is doing.
