Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy & Paste the entire report in your next reply.
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

After that, please run GMER again and post both the MBAM and GMER logs

Malwarebytes is already on the computer, but I haven't been able to update it because it won't connect to the internet. Also, now when I try to start Malwarebytes I get the following popup box:

vbAccelerator SGrid II Control
Run-time error '0'

I just rebooted from deleting Malwarebytes and a AntiVir Guard box appeared saying that C:\Program Files|WinRAR\WinRAR.exe is the TR/ATRAPS.Gen Trojan

I'm not sure where it came from. I don't know what a torrent is. I'm scanning with Malwarebytes but I couldn't update it due to lack of internet connection.

I spent the last 6 hours trying to get the GMER done. I had to reboot after 3 1/2 hours because it froze. Now It finished this time and I tried to save the log and the program stopped responding.

Posted ImageRootRepeal
We'll try a different anti-rootkit
  • Download RootRepeal.
  • Double click RootRepeal.exe to start the program
  • Click on the Report tab at the bottom of the program window
  • Click the Scan button
  • In the Select Scan dialog, check:
    • Drivers
    • Processes
    • SSDT
    • Hidden Services
  • Click the OK button
  • If you have more than one drive on your system you will be asked to select which drives to scan. Select all drives showing then click OK to start the scan
The scan should not take very long. DO NOT run any other programs while the scan is running
  • When the scan is complete, WIndows notepad will open. Close by clicking on the white/red X in the top right
  • The Save Report button will become visible. Click this and save the report to your Desktop as RootRepeal.txt
  • Go to File, then Exit to close the program
Double-click on the file you have just created (RootRepeal.txt), copy the contents and paste them here in your next reply

Also, I was trying to figure out why I can't connect to the internet. Looking at the device in the device manager it says that the network adapter is corrupt or missing.

That's the next thing we're going onto. I'm pretty sure you're clean now. Make a post in the XP forum http://www.geekstogo...2003-NT-f5.html
State that you've no internet connection and the network adapter seems to be damaged or missing. Post a link to your new thread back here, and I'll ask one of the tech guys to take a look
