i have a new ASUS laptop, running Windows7 of course. I also have an external WD hard drive that was used with my previous computer, designated as Drive H. When I hooked it up to the new computer it was assigned the letter F. I ran Computer Management and went thru the process of changing the drive letter to H. When finished, I received the message " the parameter is incorrect" The drive was not being used by any other program.Any ideas?

May I ask, why do you need to change the drive letter? It'll be happy whatever letter it's been assigned.

some of my programs have been set to download to H: and I thought it would be easier to change the drive letter than to go to each program to change where to download/save to

I had exactly the same problem and have been able to sort it by following the information on this site;

http://www.mydigital...e-drive-letter/

Worked like a charm.
