Did the resolution procedure below and after finished, rebooted the computer and it gives the error message:
"The Logon User Interface DLL athgina.dll failed to load
Contact your system admin to replace the DLL, or restore the origional DLL"

Now I can't get the computer to get past that error messsage. I need some guidence as to how to reinstall at least the athgina.dll file, but can't get back into the windows screen. HELP! P.S. Even tryed rebooting in the safe mode with still the same error message.

3-8-10 - I am able to to get into the laptop in the safe mode with command prompts - Then what and how do I reinstall the atheros.dll or delete the gina.dll

Resolution: Procedure
Uninstall the Atheros Client Utility and then reinstall the Atheros Client Utility without the Single Sign On Feature Set. If you install the Single Sign On Feature Set, you will not be able to change the How Users Log On and Off settings.

Procedure

1. Click Start, then Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs.
2. Highlight the Atheros Client Utility and click Add/remove.

3. Select Yes when prompted to remove the program and all its components.

4. Select Yes, I want to restart my computer now and click on Finish to restart the computer.

Hi,

I need to delete a athgina.dll file from my registry on command prompt because my computer can't start properly. I am a complete computer novice and I need somone to write down the exact lines I need to type on my computer. I tried using GRETAP's method ( which looks like the closest way to fixing my problem) but, I could not access explorer on the command prompt like his intructions said. Can someone maybe clarify his instructions or create their own solution to helping me fix this problem.

This is GRETAP'S method:

"If you're able to boot into Safe Mode with Command Prompt, you could try the following......

First, on another computer, d/load the XP_FixLogon.ZIP file provided by Doug Knox (attached below). Unzip the file to extract the XP_FixLogon.exe file to removable media that your "problem" computer can use (eg., floppy disk, USB flash drive, etc.). Now, boot the "problem" computer into Safe Mode with Command Prompt. When you have chosen to continue with Safe Mode instead of using System Restore (you will receive a dialogue box prompting you to make that selection), in the command prompt window key in: explorer and hit ENTER
(not necessary to go into explorer, but it might be easier)
this will open a Windows Explorer window. Put the removable media containing the XP_FixLogon.exe file into its drive and now you can navigate via point and click to open the drive containing the removable media. Double-click on the XP_FixLogon.exe file and choose the Repair option (the repair option is just the automated fix for the registry value).
Once repaired, take out the removable media and restart your computer."

I've lived with this xxxxxxx' issue for 2 years now and you have NO idea (neither do I!) how many other issues it caused on my little Asus 1005HAB netbook. Well, when I was having issues with services switches flip flopping on their own between reboots, the webcam software crapping out and telling the netbook it was really a floppy drive and calling fdc.inf as it's new driver file, 3+ minute reboot times, wifi drop outs and really [bleepy] graphics performance during games... I decided to reload the system.

 

Windows of course builds a WINDOWS.0 directory and all of a sudden... the webcam starts working again! That was the first clue. So I deleted the 2nd XP SP3 install and went back to my original: SAME PROBLEMS. I just happended into the Control Panel and went into "User accounts". What's this, a file did what when where how ??? I had to reset ALL services software switches just to get on the net and find you guys, what a [bleepy] nightmare!

 

USE this fix and you DON'T need to build a [bleepy] boot CD either, just execute on your LIVE SYSTEM. It caused NO issues whatsoever with the system and is non-destructive except to that BLEEPING athgina.dll file! It fixed in 5 seconds what baffled me for 2 years and reboots now take 37 seconds! MUCH THANKS to whoever made the thing, now I can enjoy online xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
