Can't connect HDTV to PC

Hello Good People!!

I'm trying to connect my Vizio - VA220E LCD HDTV to my Sony Vaio VGC-RB45G.

The video card i currently am using is a NVidia GeForce 6200 TurboCache.

I turned off the pc, disconnected my old pc monitor and connected the Vizio using the RGB connection.

Turned on pc, the initial VAIO screen shows, then so do the Windows XP screen, but then everything goes black....nothing.

Called Vizio tech support, they weren't much help. Told me to press F8 upon re-boot, but didn't know what to do next. The tech support sounded like he was 11 years old!! LOL.

Turned off pc, re-connected monitor, went to geekstogo! for help.

THanks for any assistance.
