The buffering on youtube and other videos is extremely slow. My laptop is only about 3 months old. I have virus scanned, defragmented my hard drive, cleaned my registry, closed any background programs and cleared disc space but the videos still load very slowly.

I read online that you can improve stremaing speed by lowering the hardware acceleration. However, my computer will not let me access this because the box is greyed out.

I read online that this could be because of my graphics card. I have an intel GMA 4500M graphics card, and i use Windows 7...

if i need a new graphics card, which one should i use for better video streaming?

but if there are an other suggestions which avoid spending money i'd be very greatful

thanks for your time :)

The Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD (sometimes also called GMA X4500 HD or other combinations) is a DirectX 10 capable onboard graphics adapter in the GM45, GE45 and GS45 chipset of the Centrino 2 platform (Montevina). The chip has no dedicated graphics memory, but takes dynamically an amount from the main memory (up to 384 MB).

The 400MHz clocked version of the 4500MHD found in the GL40 and GS40 chipsets, is called GMA 4500M (without the HD) and has a worse performance in 3D games and video decoding.

Compared to the predecessor GMA X3100, the GMA 4500MHD has two more shaders and a 33 MHz higher core clock speed. Therefore, the chip is noticable faster than the older one (especially in 3DMark06). Still, the performance is just on par with the entry level dedicated graphics cards and therefore not suited for demanding games. Some older games like Fear can be played in low details and low resolutions (see "Gaming Performance" below).

Compared to other modern integrated graphic cards like the Nvidia GeForce 9400M (G 102MNVIDIA GeForce G 105M) or AMD ATI Radeon HD 3200, the GMA 4500M HD noticably slower and provides less optimized drivers for games.

Unfortunately, because this is a laptop, you cannot upgrade the graphics. Your only choice is to buy a better laptop with a much better on-board graphics already installed.

There's only one solution for video decoding but NOT for gaming.

Note: Make sure you have an empty PCI-E slot at the back of your laptop.

You could purchase Broadcom Crystal HD Decoder from ebay or logicsupply (Just google it)
There are three model number: BCM70010, BCM70012, and the latest is BCM70015.
You want at least BCM70012. BCM70012 can be purchased from ebay and logicsupply. BCM70015 is not currently available outside manufacture.
