McAfee Enterprise 8.7i can't open console

I have been having problems with McAfee enterprise 8.7i. At first it would not allow updating. So, I uninstalled ant reinstalled. Now, the icon in the taskbar disappears whenever I try to hover over it to launch the update function. When I look in the installed programs folder it is not listed but when I look at running processes several associated with Mcafee are listed. I have no idea if it will update automatically as I previously had it setup when I could access the contol console.

What the heck is going on and do you have any suggestions? I have had free access and perpetual license and would really like to keep it but this is getting to be a royal pain.
