windows vista crash, icons gone and tool bar

Used the TFC program last night, it froze during exit. All of my desk Icon's and bottom toolbar, along with the Start button to get into my computer have dissappeared. I need help to get these back on. I have a Gateway Windows Vista. I am not very computer savvy. Thank you

In the “Taskbar and Start Menu Properties” applet, click to select “Classic Start Menu” and click Ok.
