Hi,

Yesterday I thought I had a problem with my router, so I was posting about that, (see http://www.geekstogo...e-t274183.html) but someone on here suggested that it could be a spyware/malware problem, so I have been trying to follow your steps to scan and remove anything, but have run into some trouble and I was wondering whether anyone could help me please?

I have been looking here (http://www.geekstogo...uide-t2852.html) and have done the Temp File Cleaner and ERUNT, then MBAM, then changed my virus protection from AVG to Avast (as suggested here http://www.geekstogo...tware-t38.html) because I thought maybe AVG wasn't picking something up. Anyway, nothing was picked up by either test and I rebooted to have the same problems with using the internet. I was just about able to get onto the internet enough to get the updates for Avast, but only after an agonising wait and several attempts.

So, on to step 4: using GMER. I downloaded, installed and ran it last night and it ran for about 5 hours and then crashed my computer. The computer restarted and stuff but it was late so I resolved to try again in the morning. I tried again this morning and it seems to be running fine, but has been going for about 2 hours now - should it be taking this long? Or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks very much in advance for any advice/help.

Some bugs fight gmer so if it won't run just go on to OTL.
