Hello, I am trying to help a friend. They run a HP home edition with windows vista. This is a desktop computer and is always receiving this error... WARNING 1314.The specified path %APPDATA%\ADOBE \ ACROBAT \ ACROFORM \ IS UNAVAILABLE

Also his computer randomly shuts off.

We are wondering if we can do a restore to factory settings and how to do so? any help would be greatly appreciated and please feel free to ask any questions you may need to know.

thank you in advance,

Mystic

WARNING 1314.The specified path %APPDATA%\ADOBE \ ACROBAT \ ACROFORM \ IS UNAVAILABLE

I'd try uninstalling everything that has "Adobe Acrobat" in the name, reboot and reinstall the removed programs.

Also his computer randomly shuts off.

This is often caused by overheating. First thing I'd try is throughly clean out the inside of the case, paying particular attention to the heat sink on the CPU.

Exactly how depends on the system manufacturer and the model number. You've told us that it's a HP desktop but we don't know the model number. If you can supply that we may be able to help you locate the instructions for doing a factory restore. (Note that this procedure will completely erase *-everything-* that is currently stored on the user hard drive partition[s]).

system type: 32-bit operating system
processor:AMD Athlon™64x2 Duel Core Processor 5600+ 2.80 GHz

This is the information he has provided about his comp.. does this help at all? he will clean it today, but would still like to do the factory restore fully understanding he will lose everything.

Most HP/Compaq desktop computers can be used to create _one_ set of recovery discs. If you did, but then lost them, you might be able to order a set of replacement discs from HP. HP maintains an inventory of replacement recovery discs for several years after the product has been released.

he still has his recovery disks, but when we tried to use them they said that they were not set to be used on this comp. Is there a way to go about this with out a disk?
