I had an internal Sound Blaster card which quit working and when I went to buy a new one, all they had was an external Sound Blaster which connects through a USB port. The software on the card installed itself and I had great sound for about 2 months. Now it is "broken". A check on Hardware in Devise Manager shows it working properly.

I've done the Malware scan, Enurt and OLE but the sound still isn't there. Checked audio properties under Control panel, nothinig showing there, either, nothing muted or turned down low.

Help? I have a Gateway, using Windows XP, SP3, plenty of hard drive space available and memory.
