I am trying to get 2 computers networked and to share/access files from a
Buffalo NAS drive. 1 of the computers is a Mac running XP under parallels. The other is a new HP running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. If only the Mac accesses the files everything is OK. But if 1 of them saves a file which is later opened by the other one, we get a "corrupt file" message. I have tried to get the 2 computers to "talk" to each other ... but they do not "see" one another. I believe they are both part of the "Workgroup" group on the Work network.

The NAS device should have an IP address.
