Do you have, have you had a firewall apart from AVG ?

This is definitely software related and is just a matter of finding out which one

Not that I am aware of. I used to use Zone Alarm but I don't think I installed it on this laptop.
I have had, and do have:
Ad-Aware
Spy Bot
Malwarebytes
Windows 7 Optimizer Trial
Avira AV
HiJack This
SUPER anti spyware
Easy Spyware Remover
Free Windows Registry Repair

Whilst I try to figure out the culprit - another experiment

OpenDNS go to this site and use open dns to configure your system - it is straight forward and very easy to do. Once you are set up try the sites again

OK with ad-aware could you open up the programme and let me know if network block is on or off

I must admit that ad-aware is slowing my system down some - so I will be removing it soon :) :)

I just have the free version so I assume it is off. Only process protection is on. HP wants me to reformat because of faulty USB ports. I have no idea why, but being a PC Tech, I think it is rather stupid to wipe out my data for a hardware problem. I pick up my laptop by the right front corner and the the USB device is recognized. Anyways, would you prefer to wait til after I do the reformat and clean install. If so, what software (free) do you recommend for Virus, Adware, Spyware? I like Super Anti Spyware. It seems to detect what other's can't and is not a resource hog.
Let me know about the clean install.
Thanks

If they recommend a re-install then go for it - this will also clear the web access problem

For an Antivirus then I would recommend either Avast or Avira, for Antispyware then either SAS or MBAM

We do have a re-install tutorial here which may help you
