Can't play Modern Warfare Two on XP

okay, so i'll go to single player or multiplayer and this is what happens; it gives me a log saying this:

----- Client Initialization Complete -----
Attempting 22 khz 16 bit [Windows Default] sound
----- R_Init -----
Getting Direct3D 9 interface...
Pixel shader version is 0.0
Vertex shader version is 0.0
video card or driver doesn't support alpha blending



error during initialization:
video card or driver doesn't support alpha blending

then it gives me an error message saying:

so what should i do????

any help would be greatly appreciated.
