Internet connected, but not connected?

Not to long ago, my computer got infected with a virus. I fallowed the steps on this forum to remove them, but ever since then the internet to that computer has been acting slow and strange. I am able to get on the internet through Firefox, but not internet explorer. I can not get Windows Updater to work, and online games that use game-guard will not run. They all say that I am not connected to the internet. The computer is also running Windows 7.

If anyone can help, that would be lovely.
