DVD/cd drive and battery issues

Hey there. Randomly my hp pavillion dv6500 started running the DVD/CD drive continuously and the only way I can get it to stop is to reboot. I can't even get the drive to open when it is running. There is no disk in the drive. What can I do to stop this?

I also have an issue with my battery. I can charge my battery and when I unplug it from the power supply it only lasts about 5 minutes. Do I need a new battery or is there something I can do to fix this issue? If a new battery is needed where can I get one?
