Laptop Freezes/Shuts Off

I have a Compaq Presario, approx. 2-3 years old, that will stop working (freezes with keyboard/mouse unable to walk it up) or it will shut itself off when watching a video. I do not have sleep mode enabled and have blown out the fan area with air. I completed a system restore but it is still freezing.
