When I plug anything (mouse/camera/etc) into the port the error message is
power surge on hub port or
the computer shuts down
When I start the computer and the device is plugged into it the computer is not recognizing it. The port also moves a little when I plug into it.

Port was working fine with all the devices before but I did not notice it move before. Could the port have become loose from overusage? Is it something a newbie could tighten easily?
I really do not want to take the computer to the repair shop. In the last two months new keyboard/ battery/ and power cord. For a couple of extra hundred dollars I could have had a new computer by now. Any suggestions welcomed!

Sounds like it may be occasionally shorting out. If so, and it's not fixed soon, it could potentially short out other components inside your computer. :)

(Had one customer where a shorted USB port took out the motherboard and PSU. The RAM, CPU and HD were okay).

BTW, reparing circuitry is beyond the capacity of most computer users.
