[Computer Illiterate 97]

I was wondering if someone can help with some ideas to make my download speed run faster?

I called the cable company and they said they could send a tech out, but I am not available for that for about a week, at least.

I am supposed to be getting 20 for a download speed, and I am getting 2-6 at the site they referred me to speakeasy.net.

The only other thing they could suggest was a new modem. My modem is not quite 4 years old.
My computer is almost 5 years old and is a Sony Vaio desktop. Running WinXP. Anything else, you'll have to ask more specifically.

Any suggestions? I'm lost and frustrated....and although I have been using the internet for many years, I am pretty technically immature.

since speakeasy reports your not getting anywhere near what your supposed to be getting you will have to wait on your ISP to come out and test the modem for you
