Having problems with various Windows components

Hi! I was having a lot of malware issues a few weeks ago, and after they were cleared up I noticed some Windows components were missing or screwed up-- primarily Search and Media Player. I'm not too worried about Media Player, but not having Search Assistant is driving me crazy.

I was receiving help in another forum and was referred here.

Long story short, I can't figure out why my ActiveX controls in IE appear to be set correctly but then websites like Microsoft Update won't recognise them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! :tazz:
