I'm trying to help someone that removed (47 instances) of 3 different trojan downloaders using AVG free on a Compaq pIII 850 w/win 98se. IE and Firefox will not load pages now. I can ping the router, the gateway and the mail server at the ISP (WISP) from a DOS prompt from their computer and everything works using my laptop through their router. I've removed and reinstalled everything in the network connections and I've run 'repair IE" from add/remove programs, scandisk, spybot S&D, and AVG. The system appears to be clean but AVG must have taken something with it when they used it to clean the system and of course no one wrote down any of the messages on screen during the process. No error messages now.
Anyone have any ideas?
TIA
Mike
