500GB 2.5" Hitachi Travelstar 7K500 SATA 3.0Gb/s 7,200RPM, 16MB Buffer, 12ms

2.5" Momentus 7200.4 SATA 3Gb/s 500-GB Hard Drive, 16 MBytes

Can anyone explain to me about the seeking time? Some of the products didnt specify the seeking time. So how do i compare the difference between the two? Which one is a better option?

Thanking in advance for any explanations given.

Seek time is how fast it take for the read/write heads to move to the specific track and sector where the data is stored. The lower the number the better.

So, when the seeking time is specifically specified for a hd, does that mean it has shorter seeking time than hd which didnt mention anything about the seeking time?

It just means it is not listed. You can draw no other conclusion than that. Are these specs from the drive maker's site?

Note too that we are talking milliseconds - and there are 1000 of them in every second so even if there are differences, it is probably not significant.
