Still got rdriv.sys problems?

Ok it was not in the system32 folder but showed up in a C: !Submit folder. I have not see that one before. I went to hijack to delete it but it was not there. I deleted it from the Norton quarantine. When I scanned again it was gone. Hopefully it will stay that way.

Ok to make sure its realy gone use the PC as you would for a few days and report back for me to make sure its gone.

Ok I did a Norton scan of the C drive and 0 infections came up. However, a Norton pop up keeps coming up that rdriv.sys trojan is still in System 32 folder. When I go to look for the file it is not there. Weird. Can't tell if I am still infected or not.

Ok lets try this. If you cant find rdriv.sys do everything else.

Set your system to SHOW HIDDEN FILES

Then using Windows Explorer, please locate this file:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\rdriv.sys

Right-click on it and go to "Rename". Rename it to rdriv.bak

Open Notepad, and copy everything inside the quote box (Starting with REGEDIT4) below and paste it into a new notepad file. Go up to "File" > "Save As...". A box will open up. Change the "Save As Type" to "All Files". Save it as rdriv.reg on your Desktop. Make sure there is NO blank line above REGEDIT4

Locate rdriv.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it. When it asks if you want to merge with the registry, click YES.

After the "merged successfully" prompt, please do the following:

* Download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

* Save it to your desktop.

* Run Killbox.exe.

* Select "Delete on Reboot".

* Copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them then press CTRL + C

* Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".

* Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt. If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

Please go into C:\Windows\System32 and make sure rdriv.bak is GONE!

Now, we need to make sure your XP firewall is working properly.
Make sure it says "On" and that you can turn it on and off and that nothing is greyed out. Also, make sure your Anti-Virus program is working properly - you can turn on and off auto-protect, etc.

Download, install, and run CleanUp!

Download Ewido Security Suite

• Install ewido security suite
• Launch ewido, there should be a big E icon on your desktop, double-click it.
• The program will prompt you to update click the OK button
• The program will now go to the main screen

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.

• On the left hand side of the main screen click update
• Click on Start

The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.

Once the updates are installed do the following:

• Reboot into Safe Mode, you can do this by restarting your computer, then contiunally tapping F8 until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter. Then, run Ewido.
• Click on scanner
• Make sure the following boxes are checked before scanning:
  • Binder
  • Crypter
  • Archives
• Click on Start Scan
• Let the program scan the machine

While the scan is in progress you will be prompted to clean files, click OK

Once the scan has completed, there will be a button located on the bottom of the screen named Save report

• Click Save report
• Save the report to your desktop

Reboot into normal mode.

Then, run this online virus scan:
ActiveScan

Save the results from ActiveScan.

I need you to post the log from Ewido, the log from ActiveScan, and a new HiJackThis log into this topic.

Ok I can't log into the internet now for some reason. It is trying to call up a dial up connection. I have most of these programs downloaded already with the exception of the ActiveScan. I will these steps and get back to you.

I still cant get to the internet so no activescan. Here is hijack and ewido. I scanned norton too and the virus did not come up so maybe this time we got rid of it.

Ok this rdriv thing only comes up when i connect to the internet. As I was not able to login to the internet these past few weeks I did not have any virus problems after the last steps we took. Now I connected and it is back. I am able to download activescan so I will re-post all three logs.

2. Boot into safemode to do this keep tapping F8 on your keyboard while your PC is starting up you will get a menu select safemode.

3. While in safemode open Hijackthis and click scan. Then tick and fix the following in Hijackthis with all windows closed except Hijackthis.

1. Open Hijackthis and click scan. Then tick and fix the following in Hijackthis with all windows closed except Hijackthis.

F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe

2. Go to start, run type "services.msc" with out the quotes find the service.

System Startup Service

Right click and stop it, make the start up type to disabled. When you have done that go into Hijackthis > open the misc tools section > delete an NT service and delete SvcProc. Then post a new Hijackthis log here in a reply.

I could not stop SvcProc there was no option to do so when i right clicked it. I tried to delete it in the NT section and it told me the service was running. I fixed F2 and when I did a new scan it was still there. Nothing changed from the last scan.
