So Avast tells me that I need to update my stuff so I tried to update it and now when I click on it on my desktop it says this:

C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast5\AvastUI.exe

The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail.

I've restarted my computer. Uninstalled it, re-installed, etc. etc. I've got no idea what's going on.

You could try this steps, that may help you:

1.Uninstall Avast
2.Uninstall 2005 C++ redistributable (if you have installed)
3.Reboot your computer
4.Re-download 2005 C++ redistributable and re-install it

Now try installing Avast again

I do not have the programs 2005 C++ redistributal
or 'your uninstall 2008'

Call me fickle, but I'd like help from someone with more than one post.
