Connecting TV to wireless network

Hello.

I am trying to connect my TV to my wireless network in hopes of being able to watch videos on my laptop/internet on my TV and occasionally using the TV as the monitor WITHOUT having the computer plugged directly into the TV.

Right now I have the TV connected directly to the wireless router via ethernet cable, this doesn't seem to be working. Is there any way I can do this without spending $60+ on Samsung's wireless lan adapter?? Any help is much appreciated.
